Military Service Member and Veteran Integration

Beginning in 2001 around three million US Military service members were deployed. Participating in Operation Enduring Freedom that is still in operations. Operation New Dawn that lasted about nine months. Operation Iraqi Freedom which campaign lasted about three years. These veteran groups are suffering from physical and mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These veterans are the most vulnerable, amongst other medical conditions, in transitioning from military life to a civilian role. Veterans who don’t suffer from psychological or physical disorders still have issues in socializing, caring for themselves and living a healthy civilian life. 

After Deployment many veterans suffer with poor relationships and difficulty gaining skillful employment. These difficulties cause homelessness, post deployment injury and suicide. The suicide rate for veterans exceeds the rate for civilians that calls for action. So that veterans can return to their individualized roles within society. The Military Service Member and Integration concept (MSMVI) is a process of reintegrating service members who fulfil their military obligation successfully, back into a civilian role. The concept analyzes the physical and mental wellness of the veteran as they move into a productive role as a civilian. Shoes For Veterans is the process of integration or reintegration referring to overall health, employment, getting along with others and family relationships of the veteran. To recognize the individual need of the veteran for their success. 

Veterans who return home completely disabled have the most issues when integrating back into society. Their mental or physical health has been damaged to a point where depression and anxiety set in, regardless of the injury. These returning veterans require assistance in returning to a civilian role and successfully.
